How The Internet Turned Bad

Arnold King brings us this article that takes a look at how the Internet has evolved over the several decades since it was first made available to the masses. Personally I think there are still a large number of people who follow the older version of the Internet that does not pay homage to Facebook and Snapchat. That Internet of serious writing and inquiry still lives for those who want it. But there can be little doubt that corporate interests prefer the dumbed-down version that relies on Facebook shares and likes and is more focused on celebrities than news, information and learning.

It has been 25 years since I formed my first impressions of the Internet. I thought that it would shift the balance of power away from large organizations. I thought that individuals and smaller entities would gain more autonomy. What we see today is not what I hoped for back then.

In 1993, I did not picture people having their online experience being “fed” to them by large corporations using mysterious algorithms. Instead, I envisioned individuals in control, creating and exploring on their own.

In hindsight, I think that four developments took place that changed the direction of the Internet.

  1. The masses came to the Internet. Many of the new arrivals were less technically savvy, were more interested in passively consuming entertainment than in contributing creatively, and were less able to handle uncensored content in a mature way. They have been willing to give up autonomy in exchange for convenience.
  2. At the same time, the capability of artificial intelligence grew rapidly. Better artificial intelligence made corporate control over the user experience more cost-effective than had been the case earlier.
  3. The winner-take-all mentality took over. Entrepreneurs and consultants were convinced that only one firm in each market segment would dominate. In recent years, this has become almost a self-fulfilling prophecy, as stock market investors poured money into leading firms, giving those firms the freedom to experiment with new business ventures, under-price competitors, and buy out rivals.
  4. The peer-to-peer structure of the Internet and the services provided over it did not scale gracefully. The idea of a “dumb network” of fully distributed computing gave way to caching servers and server farms. The personal blog or web site gave way to Facebook and YouTube.

Dan Bongino On The Silent Coup

Dan Bongino is always fun to watch and he seems to be a very no-nonsense guy. In this video, he lays out the basics of the Deep State coup attempt against President Trump.

Quicker, Easier, More Seductive

What happens when Social Justice Warriors get hold of a beloved institution, such as a popular film franchise? They kill it by using it to hit all of us over the head with their agenda.

The Criminalization of Masculinity

Roger Devlin reviews a new book in this essay on how Marxist feminism has destroyed our once normal culture.

The New Politics of Sex:
The Sexual Revolution, Civil Liberties, and the Growth of Government Power By Stephen Baskerville Kettering, OH: Angelico Press, 2017 pdf downloadAmazon

The RedPill community online has, of course, known about this for years if not longer. But according to Baskerville, conservatives (cucks) are only slowly waking up to the realization that feminists have criminalized being male itself. The recent travesty of the Kavanaugh hearings being a case in point. One does not have to produce any evidence or witnesses against men, one only has to point and say “harassment!!” That this is having a corrosive effect on our society and culture is a massive understatement.

Power abhors a vacuum, and breakdowns of order prove no more than brief transitional phases leading to controls more oppressive than the restraints initially cast off. The sexual revolution did not usher in prolonged anarchy; it replaced a voluntary system of self-control according to principles equally applicable to all with the bureaucratically enforced “empowerment” of one sex at the expense of the other. Thanks to recent headlines, it is finally beginning to dawn on even the dimmest conservatives that the sexual revolution has not “liberated male sexuality,” but subjected men to an arbitrary and hostile regime from which none of them is safe.

There is nothing “ironic” about the cheek-by-jowl existence of a casual sex scene and a bureaucracy dedicated to punishing the men who participate in it: the former acts as a necessary feeder for the latter. The proof is that no feminist has ever encouraged young women behave in ways which would prevent their getting hurt in the first place. Feminists find the hook-up scene far too useful to shut down.

The failure of conservatives to understand the nature of the new sexual regime has, as Stephen Baskerville, professor of government at Patrick Henry College, demonstrates in the book under review, made them into its unwitting accomplices. Indeed, the new sexual-bureaucratic despotism could not have been constructed without their active participation. Back in the 1970s when the movement was getting started, feminists wrote tracts advocating the abolition of marriage—and, of course, they got nowhere. Eventually they realized they could quietly redefine fornication as rape and easily stampede naive conservatives into a campaign to punish the “rapists.”

Feminist “theory,” as it is grandly called, is a crude social determinism, and the reason feminists cling to it is obvious: insofar as sex differences are naturally determined, they cannot be changed to suit feminist preferences. But “theory” plays a distinctly supporting role in what is essentially a political movement driven, in Baskerville’s words, “by a hatred of restraint and authority, and a thirst for unrestricted freedom and revenge.”

Roger Rabbit and the Ludek Pachman Moment

This is another older post I ran across, but well worth the time. It can be a big shock to the normies when they come to the realization that all is not as they have been told. Jonathan Revusky writes about his own moment of awakening and how he now views the world through a new frame of reference.

There is an event that I recall from a book that I read a long time ago that, I think, illustrates the concept quite nicely. It’s a rather obscure book, probably out of print now, entitled “Checkmate in Prague”. The author was a chess grandmaster named Ludek Pachman. I read the book back in my teens when I was a fanatical chess player. It’s partly a memoir of the author’s chess career but is mostly a political memoir of his time in Czechoslovakia under communist rule and it culminates in his defection to the West some time in the early 1970’s.

The event I have in mind goes like this: Ludek’s housekeeper is going off to the market to buy some food. As she is going out, Ludek tells her that he would prefer that she not buy pork. You see, Ludek had read some sort of popular science article that warned of how unhealthy it was to eat pork. He was concerned that he was eating too much pork and would prefer for her to buy beef or chicken instead.

His housekeeper, surely not a very educated woman, responded: “Oh, that is all nonsense, Mr. Pachman. They are telling us that pork is unhealthy because, at the moment, there is a severe shortage of pork and they don’t want people to notice.”

Ludek took this as an example of the kinds of misguided notions that uneducated people engage in. (I don’t believe he used the term “conspiracy theory”.) For Ludek, it was completely unthinkable that scientists would write an article like that saying that pork was unhealthy if there was not some real evidence that it was.

Well, some months after this, Ludek was reading some popular science article and the article was extolling the health benefits of pork. Now, apparently, pork was by far the healthiest meat, much better for you than beef or chicken. It struck Ludek as rather odd that the scientific consensus on this could change so quickly. Ludek looked into the question and discovered that, now there was a huge oversupply of pork. It seems that the authorities had overreacted to the previous shortage and now there was more pork than anybody knew what to do with. Thus, the authorities were desperately trying to increase the demand for pork by putting out articles telling everybody how healthy it was.

Many readers might chuckle at the above story, not think that it is very consequential. After all, when you think of the various abuses committed in communist regimes, a few porkies about pork surely do not rank very high. Nonetheless, this incident really did shock poor Ludek, and was, as I recall, one of the key events that caused him to turn against the communist regime and, ultimately, to defect to the West. He just really disliked living in such a corrupt, mendacious society, in which everything was a lie.

Our American Pravda

Here we have an older article by Ron Unz, founder of the Unz Review. In this essay, he warns us that we should be highly skeptical of our media institutions.

When we look back at their performance over the years it does seem that not only do they have a decidedly leftist agenda, a fact we now take for granted but that they show all the signs of being controlled by a central authority whose purpose is to protect the ruling elite’s wealth and power. The Elite Media Monoculture has been shown to be corrupt and a tool of a cabal behind the scenes that provide the masses with a puppet theatre designed to advance certain political agendas and policies that are good for them, but not for us or our country.

A likely reason for this wall of uninterest on so many important issues is that the disasters involved are often bipartisan in nature, with both Democrats and Republicans being culpable and therefore equally eager to hide their mistakes. Perhaps in the famous words of Benjamin Franklin, they realize that they must all hang together or they will surely all hang separately.

We always ridicule the 98 percent voter support that dictatorships frequently achieve in their elections and plebiscites, yet perhaps those secret-ballot results may sometimes be approximately correct, produced by the sort of overwhelming media control that leads voters to assume there is no possible alternative to the existing regime. Is such an undemocratic situation really so different from that found in our own country, in which our two major parties agree on such a broad range of controversial issues and, being backed by total media dominance, routinely split 98 percent of the vote? A democracy may provide voters with a choice, but that choice is largely determined by the information citizens receive from their media.

Most of the Americans who elected Barack Obama in 2008 intended their vote as a total repudiation of the policies and personnel of the preceding George W. Bush administration. Yet once in office, Obama’s crucial selections—Robert Gates at Defense, Timothy Geither at Treasury, and Ben Bernanke at the Federal Reserve—were all top Bush officials, and they seamlessly continued the unpopular financial bailouts and foreign wars begun by his predecessor, producing what amounted to a third Bush term.

Consider the fascinating perspective of the recently deceased Boris Berezovsky, once the most powerful of the Russian oligarchs and the puppet master behind President Boris Yeltsin during the late 1990s. After looting billions in national wealth and elevating Vladimir Putin to the presidency, he overreached himself and eventually went into exile. According to the New York Times, he had planned to transform Russia into a fake two-party state—one social-democratic and one neoconservative—in which heated public battles would be fought on divisive, symbolic issues, while behind the scenes both parties would actually be controlled by the same ruling elites. With the citizenry thus permanently divided and popular dissatisfaction safely channeled into meaningless dead-ends, Russia’s rulers could maintain unlimited wealth and power for themselves, with little threat to their reign. Given America’s history over the last couple of decades, perhaps we can guess where Berezovsky got his idea for such a clever political scheme.

Trouble Brewing in the ‘Coalition of the Ascendant’

Patrick McDermott has an interesting essay at American Renaissance that looks at the potential political divisions coming down the road for the Democrat party and how they will naturally develop from the current demographic trends pushed by the “browning of America.” Simply put, the current crop of old, white liberals like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are not representative of the younger leftists coming up through the ranks. Those younger generations of Democrats on the state farm teams are overwhelmingly minority and far more radical in their approach. They want left-wing socialism and they are not shy about advancing their agenda by any means necessary. Think Ocasio-Cortez as the future of the Democrat party. When old liberal whites are pushed aside, will younger, educated urban whites find that they have also been pushed out of the party? Will the new leadership see them as nothing but an ATM they can raid for welfare money? And how will the young whites feel about that?

Many studies have shown that fear, not persuasion, is the most effective way to change core convictions. Experimental research has shown that growing awareness of the nation’s pending demographic change makes whites more conservative and makes them feel closer to other whites.

Most of white America does not feel threatened yet, but it will—and with good reason. The world’s long history of ethnic conflict has not been kind to minorities, with outcomes ranging from oppression to ethnic cleansing or worse. Such conflict is highly correlated with genetic diversity and ethnic polarization. There is probably no better example of “white privilege” than the foolish belief among whites that they are somehow exempt from these larger historical forces, especially given the real world examples in South Africa and Haiti. Wishful thinking is not a counterstrategy.

The 2018 elections were a setback not just for Republicans, but also for advocates who hoped that white America would wake up to the growing threat. But the story is not over. College-educated white Americans who are so willingly abandoning their racial kin today are about to experience a rude awakening. Until then, Republicans would do well to dust off a copy of the Sailer Strategy and infuse Trump’s nationalism with something else he campaigned on but that has largely gone missing—a healthy dose of pro-working class populism.

Given the powerful lock that the dominant moral mythology has on our white educated elite, the crisis confronting white America will get worse before it gets better. This seems inevitable. But there is also truth in the old aphorism that it is always darkest before the dawn. The dawn is coming. That, too, is inevitable.

A Wave of Propaganda

Here are a few comments from poster Garuna on VoxDay’s site that sums up the midterms pretty well. These are absolutely spot on and really get to the fundamentals of the issue. The left will doubtless make a big deal of the Republicans losing the house, but in fact it is an unforced error by the Never Trumpers who chose to give up and retire in anticipation of a “Blue Wave” that did not come to pass. Rush is all over this today pointing out the same thing. We would have kept the house in all likelihood without the cuck Never Trumpers and their cowardice.

The good news is that we now have a house that is much more on board with Trump’s agenda and with a bit of luck we can gain back seats in the next round. The remaining Republicans are relatively cuck-free and the Never Trumpers are removed from the stage. We only need a small number to flip in the next election and now the Republicans in the house will not be opposing Trump’s agenda at every opportunity.

Biggest takeaways:
1) No blue wave
2) Trumpism is the future
3) Cuckservatism is finished

Democrats got destroyed in the Senate. Democrats didn’t win nearly as much as they had expected in the House. Even CNN’s Van Jones concedes “no blue wave”. The youth didn’t turn out. However, Democrats narrowly did win.

Senate ppl embraced Trump and won big. Several upset wins for Trumpists against Democrats. Including Ron De Santis winning the Florida governors race. A few exceptions like Kris Kobach.

Many House cuckservatives told Trump to “stay away” from them and not campaign for them. It proved to be a stupid decision as they got beaten. Especially considering that incumbency proved to be far stronger than polls expected.

Which brings us to the biggest untold story of the House elections:
(A) Incumbency strength
(B) Trump endorsement/rally bump
(C) Narrow Dem win
…means that Republicans would have easily kept the House if FORTY of them hadn’t retired and instead stayed and embraced Trump.

They retired because they believed the polls and expected a blue wave.

Think about this, folks. Cuckservatives literally cucked away the House because they were to subservient to media liberals and their fake polls.

It would’ve obviously been better if Republicans kept their majority and then the cucks bent the knee. But still it’s kinda amazing how mediocre the Democrat performance was.

They pulled every dirty trick. While Republicans constantly backstabbed and disavowed Trump and cucked on major issues. The media and the pollsters demoralized 40 House Republicans into retirement, completely ruining our incumbent advantage. And in the end, they lost a net 3 seats in the Senate and only managed an 11 seat majority in the House.

We lost the House but we also lost many of the cucks. The House and Senate Republicans are now far more Trumpist than before. Jack Posobiec says that because of the purging of cucks and with Trump running as well in 2020, Republicans will probably take back the House in 2020.

40 of them retired fearing the “blue wave”, ruining the incumbent advantage. And Ali Alexander revealed that many of the cucks told Trump to stay away and not campaign for them. Then they all lost.

Of course, this is after they failed to repeal Obamacare and Build The Wall, which is what won them the 2010, 2014, and 2016 elections.

Cucking on Obamacare, Wall, Trump support, polls, incumbency… everything that mattered. They literally cucked the House away for no other reason than cowardice.

Trump bump proved to be real as he got several Senate Republicans across the finish line and won 4 new seats, only losing 1 in NV.
