In this lecture, Professor Philippe Rushton discusses some of the latest research on genes, IQ, and race. For the left, this kind of thing is deeply politically incorrect, but the science is what it is. Rushton is an academic, not a political activist and so this talk is about the state of the science today and what the evidence tells us about the nature of abstract thinking and general intelligence in different populations and how that may affect cultures around the world and throughout history. I  found his discussion of the Black Plague’s effect on Europe’s population especially interesting.

International Trade and Taxpayer Funded Transportation

John Ray at Dissecting Leftism found this very interesting article by economist Sean Gabb that makes the argument that much of the outsourcing of our industries and jobs has been made possible by the fact that we have created such an efficient transportation system. Our roads, railways, and airports are paid for largely by taxpayers and we all benefit from having them. But so do foreign manufacturing firms and nations. And since they don’t pay taxes for those roads and bridges, they are being inadvertently subsidized by all of us, which artificially lowers the costs of imported goods that compete with our own.

The subsidised infrastructure that we have is biased towards transport over long distances. It raises the maximum scale of production. Internal economies of scale in a factory are worthless if distribution costs make the price of output uncompetitive in all but very local markets. Centralised production for a national market may be worthwhile in a country where distribution costs must be reflected in price. It will be far more worthwhile in a country where distribution costs are partly met by the taxpayers.

What is true of national distribution networks is also true at the level of international trade. British and then American control of the seas has made shipping safe from piracy. British and American control of the Middle East has externalised many of the costs of oil drilling and movement. British and American armed interventions stabilised less powerful countries for the sale of our industrial output, and then for the development of manufacturing industry in places where the local ruling classes could be bribed and assisted into making labour both cheap and docile.

These facts go far to explaining why Chinese apples undercut Kentish apples in Kent, and why it is worth concentrating the manufacture of virtually all electronic goods in a few coastal regions of China, and why most of the clothes we buy are put together in Turkish and Bangladeshi sweatshops. It goes far to explaining why, when I drive home every summer from the family trip to Slovakia, I share fabulously expensive motorways with lorries that pay a pittance per mile, and burn diesel at prices – even allowing for taxes – far below the real cost of extraction and transport, and that are carrying goods to places like Manchester and Leeds where once whole armies were employed in their manufacture.

In short, the manufacturing side of the globalisation that traditionalists denounce proceeds from a pattern of comparative advantage that makes sense only on the basis of systematic externalisations of cost. This is not a natural order. It is not free market capitalism. It is instead a global mercantilism in which a cartel of ruling classes has decided that certain regions should specialise in certain activities. If notebook computers are not made in Basingstoke, it may be less because firms in Canton are better at making them than because their final prices all over the world do not take fully into account their costs of manufacture and distribution.

A Liberal Coup Is In Progress

Over at PowerLine Blog, John Hinderaker has a take on the latest violation of the constitution by the leftist elites that should be both very disturbing as well as clear and obvious. The Deep State is trying to stage a quiet coup to deny the election mandate to Donald Trump. A leftist judge has, once again, declared that the President has no power to control the border or immigration into the country regardless of the wishes of the voters and what the constitution may actually say on the matter. And is should be noted that this is not just about Donald J. Trump.

The elites understand, even if they don’t want to admit, that the election was a referendum by the regular people of the country who have had enough with liberal leftism. As I have already reported in previous posts, the Democrats have been decimated over the course of the last several election cycles going back to the 2010 midterm. The voters have been saying for the last eight years that they want a change and have been replacing Democrats with Republicans during that time in numbers such that the Democrat party is now in the weakest position since the 1920s.

The left does not give up so easily, unfortunately, and they are using every remaining tool at their disposal to undermine, subvert and block the wishes of the people as expressed by the Trump administration. Thus we get this kind of judicial putsch designed to keep the borders wide open in direct violation of the wishes of the American people.

Derrick Watson, a Democratic Party activist who was appointed to the federal bench in Hawaii by President Obama in 2012, has issued a purported injunction barring implementation of President Trump’s travel order. I have not yet read Watson’s opinion, and will comment on it in detail when I have done so. But I have read Trump’s order, and the idea that it somehow can be blocked by a federal judge is ridiculous. The order is absolutely within the president’s constitutional discretion.

What we are seeing here is a coup: a coup by the New Class; by the Democratic Party; by far leftists embedded in the bureaucracy and the federal judiciary. Our duly elected president has issued an order that is plainly within his constitutional powers, and leftists have conspired to abuse legal processes to block it. They are doing so in order to serve the interests of the Democratic Party and the far-left movement. This is the most fundamental challenge to democracy in our lifetimes.

The battle lines are clearly drawn. What Watson has done has nothing to do with the law. It is a partisan coup and must be resisted.

Vault 7: CIA Hacking Tools Revealed

In case you want to take a look at the latest from Wikileaks, you can find it here. Remarkable that we should find out about all of this, and I have no doubt that the Deep State and the left have no compunction at all about using these technologies and techniques to spy on the American people.

By the end of 2016, the CIA’s hacking division, which formally falls under the agency’s Center for Cyber Intelligence (CCI), had over 5000 registered users and had produced more than a thousand hacking systems, trojans, viruses, and other “weaponized” malware. Such is the scale of the CIA’s undertaking that by 2016, its hackers had utilized more code than that used to run Facebook. The CIA had created, in effect, its “own NSA” with even less accountability and without publicly answering the question as to whether such a massive budgetary spend on duplicating the capacities of a rival agency could be justified.

In a statement to WikiLeaks the source details policy questions that they say urgently need to be debated in public, including whether the CIA’s hacking capabilities exceed its mandated powers and the problem of public oversight of the agency. The source wishes to initiate a public debate about the security, creation, use, proliferation and democratic control of cyber weapons.

Sweden: From ABBA to Allah

Gates of Vienna has a great article about the decline of Sweden due to out of control mass immigration of people from countries that have no connection to Western civilization or values. What is happening in Europe is nothing less than an invasion. The political elites may call it by other names like “tolerance” and “diversity,” but it means the end of the West if it is not reversed and soon.

My mom is Swedish but she doesn’t look like these people.

In the 1970s Sweden was a stable and wealthy country that was admired by many outsiders. It had international pop artists such as ABBA, sports stars like Björn Borg and Ingemar Stenmark as well as Volvo cars. Some outsiders still maintain this rosy image. In 2016, Sweden was still ranked as the world’s “ goodest “ country.[1]

Unfortunately, being “good” in the Western world today seems to mean being suicidal.

In just two generations, Sweden has become an increasingly dysfunctional and crime-ridden country. The main cause of this negative transformation is non-European mass immigration.

I have been chronicling Sweden’s decline for many years. My reports were falsely dismissed as fantasies made by an alleged “right-wing extremist.” This denial is no longer possible.

Many alternative media and independent websites are now describing these issues. Major media in Britain, Germany, the USA and even in Russia have also finally discovered Sweden’s Multicultural problems. This is causing huge embarrassment to the ruling elites in Sweden. They are used to being admired. They are not accustomed to international ridicule or being viewed as an example of what not to do.

Obama’s Nixon Style Wiretap on Trump Tower

The big news coming out this weekend is the revelation that the Obama administration used government agencies to spy on the activities of the Trump campaign during the election. Breitbart reports on the story here. [emphasis added]

As former Heat Street editor Louise Mensch reported the day before the election, “sources with links to the counter-intelligence community” confirmed that a FISA court had granted a FISA court warrant in October to monitor activities in Trump tower. They were previously denied a request in June, according to the report as well as a report in the Guardian. 

The New York Times reported on Wednesday that the Obama team classified the investigation at the lowest possible level, allowing the data gathered from the investigation to be shared and leaked widely within the administration.

In January, The New York Times reported that intelligence reports based on some of the wiretapped communications had been provided to the Obama White House even though there was “no conclusive evidence of wrongdoing” between Russian officials and associates of Trump.

On Twitter, Trump suggested that he might even have legal options against the former president.

Fox News reports that Valerie Jarrett has moved into Obama’s D.C. mansion to help with Obama’s continuing attempt to either impeach or otherwise force the removal of Trump from office. It seems that former president Obama is now the focal point in a hysterical attempt to reverse the results of November’s presidential election by any means necessary.

It is reasonable to conclude that Obama thought that this information would never come to the attention of the public since Hillary was to have been president by now. Furthermore, Hillary would have been working to consolidate her power base in the establishment by further weaponizing government agencies against any conservatives or the possibility of their return to power.

What all this adds up to is an attempted putsch against a legitimately elected president who is actually keeping his promises to the American people. The last thing that the left wants is a government that actually answers to the will of the American people because then it does not answer to them. A Trump administration represents that horrifying reality to Democrats who are hell bent on protecting their money and power from accountability to the people.

President Barack Obama’s former top White House adviser Valerie Jarrett is moving in with him and will help with an “insurgency” against President Donald Trump, according to a new report.

The Daily Mail reports that the Obama team is setting up shop at the posh $5.3 million mansion in the Kalorama section of D.C., referring to it as a “nerve center.”

Obama’s goal, according to a close family friend, is to oust Trump from the presidency either by forcing his resignation or through his impeachment.

Spurred on by Jarrett and Michelle, the ex-president has come to embrace his role as the leader of the opposition against Trump, whose policies he loathes and whose presidency he considers illegitimate.

The Deep State and the Democrat/Left is apoplectic that they lost the election and they are desperate to find any way possible to change that outcome. Democrats are working overtime to thwart the will of the people as expressed in the recent election and the policies of the Trump administration. But they now have little popular support and their party has been reduced to the level of a regional organization with almost no young talent. The big question is therefore how effective will Trump and his people be in fighting this war.

And make no mistake; the Democrats and the left are indeed at war, not only with Donald Trump and his administration but more importantly with the people who voted him into office. We the people are the most serious threat to the Democrat/Left because we now know them for who and what they are and we will never give them support or loyalty again, and they know it. That is why they are fighting with such desperation. They know that if they lose this battle, they will be out of power for generations to come.

Donald Trump’s Speech to Congress

President Donald Trump’s speech to congress was greeted very well by Republicans, conservatives and many independents. Democrats and leftists, on the other hand, are having a difficult time trying to come to terms with the rejection of their party by the American people. Rush says in this excerpt from his show yesterday that he thinks the Democrats were shell-shocked in part because they have not really been paying attention up to this point. During the speech, many of them were actually listening for the first time to what President Trump was saying and they didn’t know what to do or how to react.

I would suggest that what we are seeing here is the result of groupthink. When this phenomenon takes over, the members of a given group filter out any information that might threaten or undermine the prevailing viewpoint. This has the effect of providing a “safe space” for the group but at the cost of ignoring the real world around you. And when the real world intrudes into your artificial construct, as it inevitably must, the results are what we see here on the faces of Democrats who are lost and confused and who cannot integrate this new information into their already existing fantasy world.

So, anyway, the speech began, and some of these people who had been emailing me for the previous two hours were ecstatic. They were sending me emails like, “He’s really taking it to ’em! I’m so relieved. My God, he’s jumping right down their throats. This is just awesome, right on, right on, right on.” Just overwhelming relief and happiness that what they had heard was not happening.

And in fact, it was the exact opposite of what they had heard. Yeah, Trump alluded to it’s time to compromise. The real line of the night to me — and it’s hard to pick just one. But when he looked at these Democrats sitting on their hands and told them that these trivial, trivial disagreements… It’s time to move past this and start thinking big. By the way, as an aside, I have to tell you, folks, as I was watching the speech last night — and I really mean this.

The first realization of this happened when Trump mentioned a deal he had made with the prime minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, that involved improving circumstances for female business owners and entrepreneurs. The camera cut to Fauxcahontas, Elizabeth Warren, who was sitting next to Kirsten Gillibrand, and they looked at each other, like, “What? Wuh wuh wuh wuh what did he just say? What?” And they started consulting notes and chattering at each other. And a thought hit me.

I think one of the things that happened last night — and not just in that chamber, but I think in many parts of the country… I really believe this. I think the Democrats in that chamber may for the first time actually have heard Donald Trump say what he thinks and believes. I think they are so devoted to their media, I don’t think they spent much time actually watching Trump rallies, I don’t think they spent much time listening to what Trump was saying at his rallies, because if they had, there would not be this degree of anger and shock and disbelief.

But we know how cocooned these people are. We know how removed they are. They live in their own bubble, and they live in a bubble that has very thick boundaries to protect them from anything they disagree with. They don’t expose themselves to things they don’t agree with; they just characterize it based on their own bigotry and their own prejudice. And as the Democrats were shown on TV last night in these sporadic moments when the camera cut to ’em, yes, I noticed them sitting on their hands, and I noticed them looking really childish.

Leftists Manufacturing Fake Dissent

The Daily Caller’s Peter Hasson brings us this article that reveals the left organizing in secret to give the false impression that Republican voters are going to town halls to protest the agenda of the Trump administration. But like everything the left does, this is a lie. Leaked audio demonstrates that the opposition to repealing Obama-care that is showing up to town halls held by Republicans, in particular, is clearly manufactured and not spontaneous or organic in any way. These are leftist trolls trying to give a false impression of dissatisfaction on the part of rank and file Republicans, but it is phony through and through.

Leaked audio from an anti-Trump protest group meeting reveals activists with anti-Trump group Indivisible plotting how to best manufacture a hostile environment at a town hall with Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana on Friday.

The audio, obtained by local radio station KPEL, reveals a coordinated effort to create the public impression that Cassidy’s support for Trump is unpopular with his constituents. The activists, who describe themselves as liberals in the audio, can be heard strategizing how to best turn a local town hall into a political victory.

The activists split up into an “inside team” — tasked with occupying “as many seats as we can” and an “outside team,” whose job was to “give [the media] the coverage they want” before joining the others inside. Activists were instructed to dress like conservatives and leave at home “any signifier that you’re a liberal” in order to blend in with constituents.

The leftist activists strategized how best to “dominate” the question-and-answer section of the town hall and keep anyone “sympathetic” to Cassidy from asking a question.

The audio also reveals the activists laughing about “the poor people of Breaux Bridge” — local constituents — who might get stuck behind them. Local news coverage of the town hall said that “many attendees were turned away” from the town hall due to “capacity restrictions.”

Cleaning Out the State Department

This is the kind of thing we need to see throughout every corner of the Deep State. The New York Post reports.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is cleaning house at the State Department, according to a report.

Staffers in the offices of deputy secretary of state for management and resources as well as [a] counselor were shown the door Thursday, according to CBS News.

Many of those let go were on the building’s seventh floor — top-floor bigs — a symbolically important sign to the rest of the diplomatic corps that their new boss has different priorities than the last one.

Obama’s Shadow Government vs. Trump (and Us)

On Rush’s show this week he covered two articles on the subject of the Shadow Government/Deep State vs. President Trump, and by extension their war against us, the regular Americans who voted for Trump and the changes in policy that he promised to bring about. The first article is by Michael Walsh and the second is by Victor Davis Hanson. Let’s first take a look at what Rush has to say about this subject, and I recommend that everyone who is on the right needs to really understand just what we are up against.

And by the way, these people don’t want to allow the election to succeed. They want to subvert and stop us, the American people from being able to change the direction of the country and get it back on track. The K street lobbyists, the permanent bureaucrats, the Obama appointees and all of the other detritus that makes up the Masters of the Universe™ who think they are better than us, superior to us and who have nothing but contempt for us are working 24/7 to undermine the will of the people. That’s you and me; regular Americans who have had enough.

The title of Michael Walsh’s piece at PJ Media — and his stuff as appeared at National Review; it’s appeared at the New York Post, any number of places — is “Enough with This ‘Spy Game‘” And his thrust here is on the intel community and who, what, where, why regarding Trump. “With the resignation of National Security Adviser Michael Flynn in the face of a howling media mob, the knives are now out not only for other administration officials, but for President Trump himself. Make no mistake about what’s happening here.”

His piece is headlined, by the way, “The Empire Strikes Back.” That’s the actual title of his piece. “Make no mistake about what’s happening here: This is a rolling coup attempt, organized by elements of the intelligence community, particularly CIA and NSA, abetted by Obama-era holdovers in the understaffed Justice Department (Sally Yates, take a bow) and the lickspittles of the leftist media, all of whom have signed on with the ‘Resistance’ in order to overturn the results of the November election.” Walsh, I think, is a spook, former spook, in addition to everything else he is.

So right up front he’s admitting that this is “a rolling coup” made up of various players here in order to overturn the results of the November election. He goes on to talk about Mike Flynn as “a good man who saw the enemy clearly, and had the courage to name it, saw Russia not as an enemy but a geopolitical adversary with whom we could make common cause against Islam…” That upsets the apple cart in the intelligence community who want Russia designated as an enemy with whom we have nothing in common.

“As for the media, having previously failed to take down Trump aides Steve Bannon and Kellyanne Conway, Flynn was the next best thing; their joy today is unbounded” at getting his scalp. “Is this what you thought you voted for in November? Is this how you thought American democracy worked? Is this the country you want to live in? Welcome to the Deep State, the democracy-sapping embeds at the heart of our democracy who have not taken the expulsion of the Permanent Bipartisan Fusion Party lightly.”

Rush then goes on to highlight the article from venerable historian Victor David Hanson.

Now to Victor Davis Hanson. And I’m picking this up at the conclusion where he details current circumstances and the reasons why all this is happening. Under the subhead: “What has the often boisterous Trump done in his first month to earn calls for his death, forced removal, or resignation?”

And, by the way, on the reference here to his death, Mr. Hanson cites the three or four published articles on how to assassinate Trump, the beauty of assassinating Trump, the necessity to assassinate Trump, and the morality of doing it. Documents it. Quotes the people saying so. Quotes others with their own ideas for forced removal or making Trump resign. So after documenting all of what Walsh has just pointed out here, what’s Trump done to earn all this?

Well, first let’s look at current circumstances. “The stock market is reaching all-time highs. Polls show business optimism rising. The Rasmussen poll puts Trump’s approval rating at 55 percent. Compared with Obama in 2009, at the same point in his young administration, Trump has issued about the same number of executive orders.

“For all his war on the press, Trump has so far not ordered wiretaps on any reporter on the grounds that he is a criminal co-conspirator,” as he did James Rosen at Fox News, “nor has he gone after the phone records of the Associated Press,” as Obama’s Justice Department did. To little notice, people in the media. They didn’t care that James Rosen was wiretapped; he’s at Fox. And gone after the phone records of the AP, the AP said, “Well, he must need ’em, he’s Obama.”

“Trump’s edicts are mostly common-sense and non-controversial: green-lighting the Keystone and Dakota pipelines, freezing federal hiring, resuming work on a previously approved wall along the Mexican border, prohibiting retiring federal officials from lobbying activity for five years, and pruning away regulations.” All these things he said he was gonna do.
