At this point, we don’t know the cause and we won’t until the investigation has been done, so why are some people so anxious to tell us that it was not done deliberately? Just asking.
Construction workers were today questioned by investigators as they seek to determine the cause of Paris’s Notre-Dame Cathedral fire, while a priest was hailed a hero for entering the burning building alongside firefighters to rescue ancient relics including the Crown of Thorns.
Prosecutors said an inquiry had been launched to identify the source of the blaze. A source close to the investigation told The Telegraph that police interviewed 11 restoration workers and a foreman who left the landmark yesterday around an hour before the fire broke out.
Paris prosecutor Rémy Heitz stressed early indications suggest the fire was accidental, as he added: “Nothing indicates a deliberate act.”

Forensic investigators face a wait of up to 49 hours to start work inside the Notre-Dame, France’s junior interior minister said.
Speaking at a press conference outside the cathedral, Laurent Nunez said it will take 49 hours to make the structure secure.
