The Moral Paper Route

Ayn Rand is an author who has had a serious impact on my thinking and the thinking of many of today’s conservatives. The video above makes a moral case for free markets and liberty in a way that Rand would have appreciated. Sadly there are many in the leadership of the GOP who are afraid to make the case in this way. But it will be critical in the years ahead to do so.

The opponents of freedom argue for their plans and programs on moral grounds, saying that it is a question of fairness. In order to win against that argument, a counter must be put forth that is better. Clarity in speaking of the superiority of freedom is a must if we are to maintain that freedom.

Freedom is personal because it is about your life. It is the state in which you have choice. It is the state in which you can live your own life without having to ask others for permission on what you can do and how you may do it. It means you are free from limitations imposed on you by others that you did not choose for yourself. It is the state in which you have the option to not only dream of a better life, but to take the actions that will bring it into reality.
