Legitimacy

Recently there has been quite the furor over the question of legitimacy in the coming election. Donald Trump was asked a question during the last debate about whether he would accept the results or not. Implicit in the question is the issue of legitimacy and voter fraud. And indeed his response has The Elite Media Monoculture all in a tizzy over his answer, which was that he would have to wait and see whether the results were tainted by the Democrat’s typical voter fraud efforts.

This is not a small and unimportant question. In a nation that is ostensibly governed with the consent of the people, the legitimacy of any election is crucial. Leaders must be elected fairly and honestly if the people are to have any confidence at all in the process of governing. But as we have seen, the Democrats have no problem using force and fraud to gain the outcome that they desire, even if it means breaking the law to do so.

We have already seen the videos from Project Veritas to confirm this lawless attitude on the part of the leftists who now dominate the Democrat party. And we also know that within the Democrat party the Clinton camp worked overtime to prevent Bernie Sanders from gaining the nomination. The continuing email deluge from Wikileaks demonstrates not only the lawless nature of the Democrats but also shows the split within the party. The Clinton campaign staff’s own emails reveal them to have worked to undermined the hard left and their movement to nominate Sanders and to make sure that Hillary got the nomination of the party no matter what.

And now we see that a group of academics from both Berkeley and Stanford have conducted a study that shows just how statistically impossible it was for Hillary to have won the nomination of the Democrat party given the voting patterns that emerged during this election cycle. The study reveals that there was likely widespread voter fraud connected with electronic voting machines that can be easily hacked and which leave no paper trail. These revelations demonstrate that Hillary and her people care nothing for the rules and procedures of legitimate voting, even when it happens within their own party. Only winning matters to them and nothing else.

Now I am no supporter of Bernie Sanders or the left, but the fact this happened should trouble everyone. Elections that have been manipulated through force and fraud are, by definition, without legitimacy and are invalid no matter what the chattering classes may. This will be one of the most important elections in modern history. It is no wonder that Mr. Trump is unwilling to simply accept the results without verification given what we now know about the Democrats and the Clintons. He is correct to question the results. The voters need to know that they have not had their votes and their choice stolen from them by the criminal actions of the left.

If we do have an honest election then I think that Trump will win. But whether we can trust the process any longer remains to be seen.
